He was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross and The Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters and was a finalist for Pacific Air Force Junior Officer of the Year in 1970 while stationed at Takhli Royal Thai Air Base and serving in the 355 Fighter Wing.\r\n\r\nHe has two degrees from Duke University including an MBA in Finance. During his senior season as a Duke University football captain he was voted the team’s Most Valuable Player and named to the All Atlantic Coast Conference 1965 team, was voted by the Atlantic Coast Conference coaches as the best blocker in the ACC winning the Jacobs Blocking Trophy.
